Sales teams summarize target accounts before calls.

You open your AI tool and type:

The output is usually something like:

It reads clean. It’s not broken. But it could be sent by any vendor in the category.

Why?
Because the AI had no idea:

  • who you’re selling to

  • what they’re skeptical of

  • what has already failed

  • what risks matter

So it guessed — politely and confidently.

That’s AI slop.

Context Engineering, Step by Step (This Is the Core)

Context engineering is not dumping everything into one mega-prompt.
It’s progressively setting the stage, the same way you would with a human collaborator.

Here’s how serious SaaS teams do it.

1. Outcome Context: What Decision Is This Supporting?

Before asking AI to write anything, you define why this work exists.

In our case, the real question isn’t:

“How do we write better outbound?”

It’s:

“Should we shift our messaging from feature-led to risk-reduction-led?”

That decision affects:

  • sales conversations

  • positioning

  • paid acquisition efficiency

  • internal confidence

So the context becomes:

“This output will influence a strategic shift in our GTM narrative. Wrong framing will increase sales friction and erode trust.”

Now AI understands this is decision support, not content generation.

2. Audience Reality Context: Who Is Judging This?

AI defaults to explaining basics unless corrected.

So you specify the real audience:

“The audience is enterprise finance and operations leaders who have been burned by overpromised automation tools. They distrust ‘AI-powered’ language and care more about reliability than speed.”

This single layer removes half the buzzwords automatically.

3. Data & Signal Context: What Information Exists?

The video makes this point clearly: AI works best when it has the same information humans do.

So you tell it:

“You can reference CRM notes from closed-lost deals, sales call themes, and intent data around compliance and error reduction. Do not invent customer quotes.”

Now the system stops hallucinating relevance.

Messaging drifts when voice and channel aren’t specified.

So you define:

You tell the AI:

Now AI avoids repeating mistakes you’ve already paid for.

6. Point-of-View Context: What Do We Believe?

Without a POV, AI produces consensus.

So you articulate:

“We believe most automation tools fail due to adoption friction, not missing features. Buyers care more about reducing errors than increasing speed.”

Now AI has a lens.

Only Now Do You Prompt

Notice how much happened before the prompt.

At this point, the prompt can be simple:

“Using the above context, draft an outbound message that reduces skepticism and opens a serious conversation. Do not sell the product.”

The intelligence didn’t come from the wording.
It came from the context.

Without context, AI produces polite, generic outreach.

With context, the output:

  • acknowledges buyer risk

  • avoids hype instinctively

Good prompting isn’t about issuing commands.

Over time, with consistent context and feedback, the AI begins to:

  • recognize your patterns

  • mirror your tone

  • respect your constraints

That’s how you move from using AI to working with AI.

Agentic Systems: From Doing the Work to Orchestrating It

The future isn’t one AI doing everything.

It’s multiple specialized agents working together.

For SaaS GTM, that looks like:

  • one agent summarizing CRM and intent data

  • one agent stress-testing assumptions

  • one agent drafting messaging aligned to POV

  • a human validating, refining, and approving

Your role shifts from execution to orchestration.
